Medal of Honor (2010) review
Driving out at night deep into the Taliban controlled areas of Afghanistan was never a good idea. As seen in the trailer, cars go boom, bullets flying everywhere, and yes, the awesome action begins. This is Medal of Honor. For most of you fans of the original Medal of Honor series, this is by far the best installment since Medal of Honor Allied Assault. For most Call of Duty fans, you might think that this whole new Medal of Honor is a complete rip-off from Modern Warfare 2. Well, guess what? It isn't. Medal of Honor puts you into the boots of 3 different characters, namely Rabbit, Deuce and Spc. Adams. You are tasked into well, eliminating the Taliban of course. Go deep into enemy controlled areas, with the help of local rebels, or team mates. Of course, we can never forget the bearded guy on the cover whose name is Dusty. The action for the game itself was a totally new experience from what you get when you play Call of Duty. Explosions aren't as big as they should be. Grenades don't go with a big boom but instead, it goes with a rather smaller explosion.
The scenery of the Afghan mountains were breathtaking. It actually make you feel like you are inside the game itself. Though storyline was awesome as it is. The action lacked the insane swarm of enemies from what you get in Modern Warfare 2 which makes this more realistic for a shooter. Overall, I have gotten to love those sliding moves where you can't really do in most shooters with just as simple as sprint and crouch. Oh yeah, sliding down for cover behind rocks after sprinting is in. Beat that, Modern Warfare 2. The AI for the opposition were quite good. As most of the AI will tend to seek proper cover and fire at you. Though the limitation of the weapons was a little of a downfall and the terrain makes it hard for you to spot where they are.
Realistic firefights proved that this game is not to be underestimated by most Call of Duty die hard fans. Overall, the realism has made this game to a really high score. IEDs, sniping and the wind speed and direction affecting it, this has got to be the most close to life shooter ever made so far. The down part for the game is its short storyline and the little variety of weapons. Graphics for the game has brought this game up, though the graphics demand wasn't high. As my 9600 GT can run it at medium without any lags. AI was intelligent enough. Sound quality was superb. Overall, rating. Graphics 9/10. AI 8.5/10. Storyline 9.5/10. Verdict:9/10

Civilization V

Well, been waiting for ages for this to come up... And finally, it's here... Civilization V... the latest installment to Firaxis' Sid Meier's Civilization series... first, I've expect the controls to be more complex with new things coming up... However, it wasn't as complex as I thought, though I barely have enough time to try out the game recently... But as far for I can say, the User Interface or UI is simple... very few options compared to what was seen in the previous installment... Civilizations from lesser known ares such as Siam and the Songhai were featured in this installment... However nice it looks, the army doesn't look like 3 gigantic soldiers walking around the map... but instead an entire regiment of soldiers... compared to Civilization IV... one more thing to add is that we can all kiss the squares goodbye and welcome back to the Hexagons... in Civilization V, we will not be using the squares like we did in Civilization IV...Hexagons have returned to replace the tiles in Civilization V... Graphics was spectacular as the lighting has changed a lot from Civilization IV... what can you say? 5 years in the development... It has to be awesome... Though I would say that there will no longer villages to explore that gives you bonuses but ruins which gives you gold or manpower... overall, since I don't get to play much bout the game... I leave it for another time before I'll be rating this game...

My first street fighter experience since the NES era...
Amazingly, I have not played Street Fighter for a long time... And recently, I've managed to get my hands on Street Fighter 4... of course, my girlfriend had never touched it... until recently... So, while she was giving a shot at Street Fighter 4... she had managed to get a hang of almost all the characters except Bison... Me, on the other hand, sucked at all the characters except Sagat... the Muay Thai fighter from the first Street Fighter... and amazingly, though I always do suck at fighting games, Sagat was the only character that I've managed to master well enough to try to fight Seth... pathetic eh? of course... i got pwned badly while fighting Seth... amazingly, my girlfriend managed to use the other fighters way better than i do... though i usually don't last the first round... except for Sagat... pathetic but true...

staring out into the night
staring out into the night
the lonely darkness
i chose my plight
to escape this darkness
there you were standing with the light
i reached towards you to see who you might
almost reaching it seems so bright
i fall in love with you for you were right
i made my choice i see this through
i find myself that you were true

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time review...

Yet, another game based movie... As expected another game based movie should be disappointing right? Failure after failure after failure... Games are just not meant to be movies... Though we've seen how Timothy Olyphant had portrayed Agent 47 in Hitman and Mark Walhberg who potrayed the title character Max Payne... These were not much of a disappointment but turned out to be okay... We have seen how Uwe Boll transformed awesome games into disasters... such as Far Cry, Postal and Bloodrayne... From Super Mario Brothers till Doom, none of the game titles ever succeed in capturing my eye except for this beautifully done film... Amazing CG for such a smashing title... This film wasn't supposed to be another one of those overly done shows like Doom...

Well, as said, PoP wasn't my first choice of film to watch, I've always doubted that game based movies have been failures all these time save for Hitman and Max Payne. However, these 2 game based movies have moved away from the usual styles depicted in the game itself... PoP on the other hand keep most of the elements found in the game itself yet manage to stun the audience with amazing CG and action. The charming Brokeback Mountaineer Jake Gyllenhaal has played the role of the Prince known as Dastan well. With Ben Kingsley playing the evil uncle Nizam, what could possibly go wrong?
As far as for the storyline, it is simplistic but done well, however there were spaces for more improvements. CG was stunning, action scenes were intense and cool. Ratings: Story 6/10 CG 8/10 Action 7/10 Overall 7/10.

Yet another worry...
For days, my girlfriend has been sleeping over at my place...
It's been nearly a week, she's been staying here... not going back...
And recently, I've been studying with her for quite a lot...
However, the worst thing that I've ever heard came from her aunt yesterday afternoon...
I pity her for what she's been going through...
Some might agree that her family's right to pressure her to study...
But for me, I don't see that it's wrong nor right...
As I'm writing this post, she's sleeping on my bed... letting her resting was what I did...
The moment she wakes up, I'm supposed to teach her some Japanese for an assignment later...
An interview it seems...
She has been unable to grasp it no matter how hard she tries...
What her aunt said to her was that she's been sleeping to much...
From what I see, that's not true...
She's been too stressed... and she spent most of her time awake... studying...
She cried, the moment she ended the call...
I realized, it wasn't a good thing and came over to comfort her...
Somehow, pressure on this girl seems to break her down to her knees... all teary eyed...
But, what I can do now, is to not make her give up and make her fight to the very end even though it might seem that she might not get through... She still have the chance to gain that 1:100000000000 chance of getting through her degree with a good CGPA... the only thing I can do now with my own hands and brains is to help her out in her studies and support her no matter what... despite that, I will not give up on mine either... がんばってね、ニコーちゃん。
